REJOICE

We rejoice with the angels over the birth of a new sister. Raelle Johnston, daughter of John and Christina Johnston, was baptized Saturday night, February 18th, at Winterfest. Please welcome and encourage her.

PRAYER REQUESTS

Rick Austin requests our prayers. He has a fever that has lasted a couple of weeks which appears to be from an insect bite. It doesn’t appear to be responding to the antibiotics he’s taking. (Update: Rick is doing somewhat better and is regaining some strength.)

Richard Brown: “My recovery from the surgery continues to go very well. I am to meet with the oncologist on the 24th of the month to determine what the follow-up to the surgery will be. I look forward to being back among you soon. Sandra and I and our family will ever be grateful for everything our church family has done for us. This has helped us so much in so many ways. All of this has given us a broader understanding of 1st Corinthians 13:13: Now abides these three, faith, hope and love, but the greatest of these is love.

Melanie Gipson: “Pray for me to meet my other 4 children who were adopted in God’s time.”

Terri Jones: “Please pray for all those who are suffering through loss of loved ones.”

John Kuhn Family: “Please continue to pray for John and that God would give him wisdom with some things at work. Also keep Amber and Adam Wood family in prayer in the death of Amber’s mom, Brenda Fox.”

Lance Moore: “Please pray for Jodi to continue to persevere while I’m at His Way.”

Jeff Norville: “I have a couple of prayer requests: 1) Colleen has a bad ear infection. 2) I found out Thursday I will be having shoulder surgery – so prayer for strength and support.”

Please keep The Porter Family in your prayers as Lora’s mother, NoraBelle Reed, passed away Thursday.

Kylea Tucker: “Please keep Seth Bond in your prayers. He has court next week. May God please be with us.”

Doug Turbyfill: “Would like to say thank you for His Way and God giving me my life back.”

Sue Underwood is recuperating at home after being in the hospital with pneumonia last week. Please continue to keep her in your prayers.

SYMPATHY

Our sympathy is extended to The Porter Family in the passing of Lora’s mother/Loran, Wade, and Brenna’s grandmother, NoraBelle Reed, Thursday, February 16th. Her funeral was in Terre Haute, IN Monday, February 20th.

THANK YOU

Thank you so much for the outpouring of love you have shown me and my family in the last few months and weeks leading up to my Mom’s death. I appreciate so much the calls, cards, visits, texts, the beautiful peace lily and encouraging gifts. Some of the texts in particular were obviously the Holy Spirit working through God’s people as they were perfectly timed. Thank you also to those who drove a long way to be with us at the visitation and funeral, it meant so much. Thank you also to Debbie Baucum and all my Happy Times family for allowing me to be gone for an extended time to be with my Mom. Please keep us in your prayers as we navigate life without Mom. My stepdad found out on the day of the funeral that he has cancer in one of his kidneys.

Love you all.

Jan Burns

Thank you, CORD Committee, for the blessings for our 33rd wedding anniversary.

Mike and Dorothy Guthrie

Tonino and I are so very grateful for all the loving support and encouragement during these first four weeks of Teddy’s life. We have been able to focus on his growth and time with him due to all the encouragement, food, and love that the church family has shown. Thank you all so very much.                            Kat and Tonino Nambo

SUNDAY MORNING ASSEMBLY

SHIFT YOUR FOCUS: Lessons from 1st Corinthians

Last week we finished the first section of our 1st Corinthians study where Paul urges the church to focus on God’s ways rather than having a worldly perspective. In short, we can look in the wrong places for guidance and end up hurting ourselves and our church family.

Sunday, February 19th, through April 2nd we will be looking at chapters where Paul gets a little more specific, admonishing the church in Corinth to be intentional about their own selfishness. Our goal should be the same, to admit our own selfish desires and deal with them by focusing on God’s desires for our daily living.
